Converted Convert

Hmmm... Let me see. I don't even know where to start. Okay here's the story behind the title of my post.

About 3 years ago, I sort of got trapped in the very sticky web of Kdrama fanaticism. The very first Kdrama I remember watching and falling in love with is "Full House" (who in the world watched the show and didn't fall in love with the characters?). I loved how light the plot was, how bubbly the lead actors were, and how heart-melting the story was. After being hooked by FH, I searched for other dramas that made me feel the same. Looking back, the dramas I remember are most likely the ones I loved. 3 more titles come into mind when I recall the dramas I have watched: Witch Yoo Hee, Princess Hours, and Coffee Prince.

Coffee Prince was, I guess, the 'interchange' part where I crossed over into Jdoramas. While looking for a drama with a similar plot, I stumbled upon "Hana Kimi" (Lead: Horikita Maki & Oguri Shun, where Maki had to pretend that she was a boy in order to be admitted into Shun's all-boys' school.). It was the very first Jdorama I watched from start to finish. It was also after watching the Jdorama when I realized that Japanese serials are shorter and funnier. Of course that's just my point of view.

One thing lead to another until I got to "Yamada Taro Monogatari", which sealed my Japanese entertainment fanaticism. Getting to know Nino through the drama lead me to knowing Arashi who made me into a complete fangirl.

After 2 years of watching Jdoramas, purely Jdoramas, I sort of got a little side tracked. I can't remember exactly who tugged me into joining the "Boys Over Flowers" bandwagon but I definitely caught the BOF fever. But I'm going to be really biased and honest here okay. Yes, I fell in love with BOF but "Hana Yori Dango" still holds a bigger space in my heart.

Most of us fangirls have probably experienced facing a dead end. No more interesting dramas to watch, no more movies to look forward to. I think I just faced a sign saying "Dead End". I feel like there's no Jdorama left anymore even though I haven't watched some of the most recommended dramas yet. It's just a feeling though, but I think it's suggesting that I'm tired of watching purely Japanese dramas. One time when I happened to catch a glimpse of an episode of "My Sassy Girl Choon Hyang" I dled all the episodes immediately so that I can watch it (yeah I'm 5 years late, I know). I watched it in just 2 nights. It had 17 episodes, 1 hour per episode, which means it was 17 hours all in all. Maybe I was thirsty for the elements found in a Korean drama. I had fun watching it. I loved it.

I missed watching Korean dramas. I think I have plenty of time for both genres so why not watch 1 of each? I guess I just got converted again: Kdrama addict -> Jdorama addict -> J and K drama addict.

Whew. I have that much free time huh?
