Synopsis:
A girl who's been shying away from the world because of her deformity learns to face the world head on with the help of the man who also taught her how to love.
MIN-AH's world has never gone beyond her house and her school after being released from a very long confinement due to her disease. MI-SOOK, her mom, is fully aware that getting her out of the hospital is not the best thing to do but Mi-sook is determined to make her daughter's life happy and memorable. Despite her mom's efforts, Min-ah shies away from the world due to her deformity, and fails to see what life has to offer. She hides inside her cocoon, same way as she wraps her deformed hands with mittens. Min-ah was fine in her cooped up world until a young guy named Young-jae moves into the next room.
Young-jae takes Min-ah out into the world and shows her what she's been missing. He teaches her how to live life to the fullest, giving her a taste of the stuff she's never done.
Throughout all these, Mi-sook watches her daughter fall in love for the first time. Afraid to see her daughter in a state other than this, she keeps Min-ah's real condition as a secret from her and Young-jae.
Rating:
Cast:
Acting: 1/2
- No exceptional acting from the lead actors. The roles weren't that challenging though.
Chemistry: 1.5/2
- Since this is a love story, I'll be rating them according to the chemistry of the pair and how suited the actors are for the roles. First, the 2 didn't have "spark" between them so not much chemistry there. But the lead actress looked perfect for the role. I can't imagine someone else doing it.
Story:
Coherence: 1/2
- I have a harder time making sense of Korean movies since I highly rely on subs. After all, a subber's interpretation is his personal interpretation. The ability to understand Korean might have helped me understand the movie better. I was sort of confused and it felt like there were missing pieces to the movie.
Interest: .5/2
- At least it got me watching from start to finish. And I've watched a lot of dramas/movies with the same plot already. It doesn't stand out from the rest.
Reality: .5/2
- The only part that touched me was the time the mom was reading her daughter's letter.
Inspiration: 0/2
- I didn't pick up anything or maybe I refused to pick up something.
Compactness: 1/2
- It would've been good as a 1-hour length film.
Effect: 1/2
- I cried when the mom was reading Min-ah's letter, I laughed at some parts. I wasn't wowed.
Soundtrack: 1/2
It has one and it's okay. I liked 2 songs from the OST.
Cinematography: 1/2
It wasn't bad but it didn't really blow me away. It was normal.
Recommend: .5/2
I can only recommend this to those who love romance flicks and have a lot of time to spare. I've seen this kind of story several times already. It's not the best of its kind.
TOTAL RATING: 2/5
